Phonalab was created to make professional voice analysis accessible to all clinicians, regardless of budget or technical expertise. After three decades of researching voice disorders and developing computational models like SimuVox, I wanted to give back to the clinical community that has supported my research.
These tools represent years of research in vocal fold dynamics, acoustic analysis, and voice pathology. The algorithms are based on validated protocols from peer-reviewed research, including the AVQI and ABI validation studies for Brazilian Portuguese (Englert et al., 2021). The tools use the same methods employed in voice science laboratories worldwide, now packaged in an easy-to-use web interface.
They're free because I believe that better assessment tools lead to better patient outcomes. If you find these tools valuable, your feedback helps guide future development, and optional support helps keep the servers running.
Phonalab is completely free and always will be.
